Debbie Lewis is a sailor. When she bought Johnny Wray’s Ngataki in 1988 it was love at first sight. With a heart full of dreams, little sailing experience and only a couple of navigation lessons, she and her son set sail on a seven-year circumnavigation of the globe, returning to New Zealand in December 1994. In 2009 Debbie donated the Ngataki to the Tino Rawa Trust for restoration to be used, once launched, for youth programmes. On some of those sailings she plans to be at the helm.
