Tim Beaglehole

A graduate of Victoria and Cambridge universities, Tim Beaglehole taught Indian history and New Zealand history at Victoria University (publishing in both fields), was responsible for developing and displaying the university’s art collection for over 30 years, served terms as dean and deputy vice-chancellor and as chairman of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and deputy chair of the board of the New Zealand National Art Gallery. After retiring he and his wife Helen circumnavigated New Zealand in their yacht Cape Resolution. His biography of his father, A Life of J.C. Beaglehole: New Zealand Scholar was published in 2006 and a volume JCB’s selected letters at the end of last year.
