Naomi McCleary is a co-founder of the Going West Book and Writers Festival and is the Festival Producer. Naomi is an arts advocate for West Auckland and was Waitakere City Council’s first Arts Manager. She oversaw the development of many arts initiatives including a ground-breaking practice of integrating the work of artists into the fabric of urban development, the restoration of Colin McCahon’s French Bay house and the establishment of the McCahon House Artists’ Residency. Naomi was the first recipient of an Outstanding Individual Contribution Award from Creative New Zealand for her services to the arts within local government. She currently works as a free-lance arts consultant.
