Roger Horrocks is a writer, poet and film maker and founded the Department of Film, Television and Media Studies at the University of Auckland. He has been an editor of literary magazines And, Splash and Parallax, and published poetry, The Auckland Regional Transit Poetry Line (1982) and The Song of the Ghost in the Machine (2015). He wrote the libretto for the highly successful Len Lye: the opera with music by Eve de Castro-Robinson. Roger worked as Len Lye’s assistant in 1980 and later wrote a biography of Lye which was a finalist in the 2002 New Zealand Book Awards. In 2015 he published Zizz: the life and art of Len Lye. Roger is a Trustee of the Len Lye Foundation. He has been involved in many aspects of the arts and in 2004 was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
